As the Fun Wheel turns!

 Monday July, 14:

I worked all day while Wes spent time with Aunt Gay.  Later that afternoon his cousin Sherry came over to visit as well.  Once I was done with work, the four of us went to River Rock Cafe for dinner.  Then back to Aunt Gay's for a quiet evening.

Tuesday July 15:

I took the day off so we could drive back to Green Bay to get to the boat.  We stopped at a Big Boy for lunch then made it back to the yacht club around 1430.  We turned the air on and dropped our bags then headed to the clubhouse for a drink while the boat cooled down.  We had a few beverages and a few tacos, then headed back to Toscana.  The OSG guys were still hanging at the lighthouse so we visited with them for awhile, then had a quiet night.

Wednesday July 16:

I had busy day at work being off the day before.  Wes ran to get some supplies while we still had the rental car.  Pat and Rod and Elsie (we met them at Midway Marina) stopped for a quick visit.  The wind picked up and a decent storm blew threw.  We had dinner aboard, had one beer at the clubhouse, then walked back in the rain.  We then had a quiet night as we are planning on heading to Little Sturgeon Bay tomorrow to visit Pete and Cheryl and see Barnes as well.

Thursday July 17:

We were up early and were about to shove off about 0830.  Wes went to switch us to boat power and the new switch wasn't working.  He went to work on fixing the problem.  He fixed it and we shoved off around 1000.  The wind was out of the north and with the storms that came through last night, we were taking some 3-5 foot waves with some getting 6-8 foot waves head on.  It was a rough ride until we made the turn into Little Sturgeon Bay.  Wes went to shore and visited a bit while I finished working.  He then came back on the dinghy and brought Barnes with him for a quick tour of the boat to see what changes we've made.  The three of us got on the dinghy and headed to shore (Pete and Cheryl's place) to visit some before heading to dinner at Wave Point Marina.  The atmosphere was great with a lot a natural wood.  After dinner we headed back to Pete and Cheryl's and enjoyed a bon fire with them and the Barnes'.  We again had a hard time getting off the fun wheel and stayed up too late, but it was a nice evening.

Friday July 18:

We were up and moving and pulled the anchor around 0700 to head to Washington Island.  It was a beautiful day and a much easier ride than the day before.  It was a long day, but we didn't see a lot a traffic until we got closer to Washington Island.  Then we could see the ferries and they went between Washington Island and the mainland.  All the marinas were full for the night, so we anchored out in Detroit Bay near Island Outpost, as they said they had room for us the following night.  It was a peaceful night with cool temperatures, so we were able to sleep without the generator.  It started to rain in the middle of the night, but it wasn't bad.

Saturday July 19:

We had a lazy morning as it was overcast and still raining on and off.  Wes made us breakfast and we just relaxed waiting for word from the marina of when we could come in.  We got the call around 1100 and headed into the marina.  Once we got settled, we went into the office, and secured a courtesy car so we could explore the island.  We spent the majority of the afternoon seeing the sites, including the lavender farm where I picked my own bouquet of lavender for the boat, the Stavkirke (an replica of an old Scandinavian church), School House Beach, and a few local shops.  We went back to the marina, returned the car and then walked over to Island Pizza for dinner.  We then went back to the boat to relax and enjoyed meeting a family from southern Wisconsin.  They bought their trawler last fall and were exploring for the summer.

This was at School House Beach.

These are pictures of the prayer path alongside Stavkirke and Stavkirke itself.

Sunday July 20:

We were up early as we had a long way to go.  We shoved off around 0600 and were on our way to Beaver Island.  It was another beautiful day on the lake.  Travel time to get to Beaver Island was about 11 hours, but with the time change, we arrived around 1800 to find several other boats anchored in the bay (where we also were planning to anchor).  The bottom was very weedy and it was hard to find a spot of sand that wasn't too close to one of the other anchored boats.  We didn't get where we wanted, but after a couple of tries getting the anchor set, we finally got it to set and we were secure for the night.  I made a quick dinner of tacos and we enjoyed the rest of the evening relaxing.

Us doing virtual church.

Another ferry as we approached Beaver Island.
