Old friends, New ones, sunsets, cheap expensive fuel, and more old friends!

 Whew! What a week!!!

Monday, March 23:

Wes got up and did some computer work.  I got up and started working.  Wes washed the boat.  Then after I was done with work, we met up with Gary and Lynn and went to Island Beach Bar & Restaurant where we enjoyed some good food and beverages but even better conversation!  They drove us back to the boat where we said our good-nights.  Then we went back to the boat, watched a little TV then went to bed.  Not the most exciting day, but a good day.

Tuesday, March 24:

We both got up and did our respective bible studies.  I had a lighter workload that late morning, so I decided to take an early lunch and we went to the National Navy UDT-Seal Museum.  It was very interesting and I'm so glad we took the time to stop.  It was a little rushed as we only had an hour, but it was well worth it.  Then we went back to the boat, where I continued to work.  Then we went to Will & Joy (both their names and their boat name) for docktales.  We had a very nice visit.  We got back to the boat around 2030.  Wes had some leftovers for dinner, we watched a little TV, then off to bed.

Wednesday, March 25:

We got up and Wes did some computer work and got the boat ready for travel.  I started working.  Wes went and checked us out and perused the gift shop and couldn't resist buying the Screw Room sign.  We dropped the lines around 1030 and started heading north.  It was a still day at first, so it was a bit toasty, but we the breeze picked up and it was a very enjoyable travel day.  I worked from the flybridge all day.  While checking out a couple of anchorage options, I saw a couple of stingrays.  Some dolphins also swam by to say hello.  We arrived at our anchorage around 1640 and settled in for the night.  I made dinner, we ate on the aft deck and relaxed a bit.  We enjoyed a nice peaceful sunset together while enjoying our after dinner beverages.  It was the perfect ending to a nice day.  Then we went inside and watched some TV before bed.

Thursday, March 26:

Wes was up early. I was up around 0630.  Wes was ready so we decided to go ahead and pull and anchor and start moving.  We pulled the anchor around 0715 and started off.  We had a beautiful sunrise to greet us!  The water was calm and it was a very peaceful morning.  We started making our way to Ocean Club Marina at Port Canaveral for fuel as they were the best price we could find so it was worth it to go out of our way to get it.  This meant we had two bridges to lift and a lock to go through to get there.  On our way, we saw several dolphins and a manatee.  There were also several abandoned boats in the shipping canal.  We arrived at the lock around 1300 as I was getting off a work call.  We locked through and headed to the marina where we took on about 650 gallons of diesel fuel.   Then back out the way we came 😂.  We made the first bridge and through the lock and had about 45 minutes to get to the next bridge for their 1500 opening, so we put the hammer down (as much as we do 🤣).  We arrived at the last bridge at around 1505, which was perfect as it takes them a few minutes to prepare to open and then of course actually open it.  The bridge tender was very nice and made sure we made the opening!!  We made it to our anchorage around 1700.  I had some leftover brisket and ribs in the crockpot warming, so we enjoyed a beverage on the aft deck, then I went and made us a salad to go with our dinner, then we enjoyed dinner on the aft deck and a couple after dinner beverages as we watched another beautiful sunset.  There was a storm so the sunset was different, but still gave us beautiful colors.  At dark, we went in, watched a little TV then off to bed.

 Friday, March 27:

The launch was delayed, so we didn't get to see a rocket launch.  So we got up, Wes did some computer work and route planning, I started working.  We pulled the anchor around 0730 and started heading north to Smyrna Beach.  There was more boat traffic than the last few days, but it was still a nice cruise up the AICW.  Wes was able to get us into a marina.  We arrived around 1330 and got all secured.  I continued to work, while Wes visited with Deb, Brownie and Tom from Bay City, MI.  They were down vacationing, so we stopped so we could visit them.  When I was done working, we enjoyed a couple beverages on the aft deck, then we loaded up in Brownie's car and headed to dinner.  We had dinner at Breakers.  After dinner, we walked down to Peanuts (a bar down Flagler Street) and enjoyed a couple more beverages.  Then we went back to the boat where we enjoyed a night cap, then said our goodbyes and we went to bed.

 Saturday, March 27:

We weren't moving very fast (ok, it was mostly me).  Winds were going to be picking up so Wes wanted to get moving.  We dropped the lines around 0800 and started heading to Hammock Beach Marina in Palm Coast.  It started out beautiful.  The sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze.  The winds definitely picked up as the day went on, and the sun went behind clouds as the day went on.  We arrived at Hammock Beach around 1430.  Claudia and someone from the marina were there to greet us and catch our lines.  It was a little interesting with the wind, but we managed just fine.  We visited a little with Claudia, then we got settled in.  We went over to Still Waters II around 1600 for a nice visit with Claudia.  She was kind enough to make us dinner too!  It was a very enjoyable evening!  We went back to the boat around 2030.  We relaxed a bit watching TV, then went to bed.

 Sunday, March 29:

We got up and got ourselves looking presentable. (Amy anyway, no hope for me :) )  Then we walked up to Claudia's car, where we all got in and made our way to Jacksonville, where we went to church at Eleven22.  After church, Claudia drove us around and showed us some sights.  We stopped at a Bucky's (it was my first time being at one).  I knew it was big, but WOW!  It was neat to walk through.  We picked up some fudge to try, then we made to Whataburger for a late lunch.  After lunch we drove to St Augustine, where Claudia pointed out key spots.  Then we took the back roads back to the marina.  It was a very pleasant afternoon!  Then we toured the resort here and the condo building.  After that we were all a bit tired, so we went to our respective boats and had a quiet evening.  Wes did route planning most of the evening.  I reviewed some notes on where to make sure we stopped on our way up the east coast.  The evening got away from us and we didn't got to bed until around 2200.
