Monday, June 22:
We got up and Wes did some computer work and I started working. The fuel truck arrived around 0830 and we all took on fuel. We took about 550 gallons. Story, Gvit a Go, Quanta and Tisn't all took on fuel as well. All were done filling around 1015, so we all dropped our lines and started west on the Erie Canal. It was sprinkling as we took off. The rain picked up and continued all day! Then as we were exiting lock 16, we lost our starboard engine again. We were in the "speed" zone, so we couldn't go fast anyway, but still a concern to have to go through lock 17 on one engine. we ended up docking at Little Falls Canal Harbor so that we could be hooked up to power while Wes rebuilt the water pump on the starboard engine. I was on a work call, so Wes had to dock the boat himself. It was a stressful afternoon! He was able to get us secured with some help from Quanta around 1445. We went up to docktales at `1700, then back to the boat where Wes started working in the engine room and I made dinner. Wes rebuilt both water pumps to ensure the port one wouldn't have the same issue. When he was done we relaxed a bit then went to bed.
Tuesday, June 23:
We got up and got moving right away. We dropped our lines around 0650. It was a cool morning, but thankfully the rain had stopped. We hovered before lock 18 for about half an hour then locked through with 5 other boats. We were looking to hit lock 19 right before 1000, but I had work calls so we tied up at Village of Ilion Marina for a couple of hours. Wes walked to Aldi, made some sweet tea and grabbed us burgers from the country store there. Once I was done with my work calls, we left Ilion and continued on. We made it through locks 19, 20,21 and 22 without any issue. It was a long day by we arrived at Sylvan Beach to a pier full of loopers around 1830. We got secured, then we were handed a mini beer which we drank. We finalized getting everything secure, then we walked with the group to Cinco de Mayo for dinner. There was quite the crowd of us. It took a bit, but food was good. We walked back and visited a little before heading inside around 2115. We watched a little baseball then went to bed.
Wednesday, June 24:
We got up and got moving around 0700 as we made our way to Ess-Kay Marina. It was a beautiful day to cross the lake! We arrived around 1000 and got secured. We did a Walmart delivery for a couple items we needed. I continued to work on the flybridge while Wes did some computer work and visited some with fellow loopers. It was looper appreciation day, so we joined the group for burgers and hot dogs. We brought a pasta salad as our dish to pass. It was a great time. Matt from Snacktime busted out the karaoke. Matt sang first, then me, then Wes, then Matt and I again, but no one else wanted to sing, so Matt switched to Name That Tune. As it got dark and the bugs came out, we went to the flybridge on Snacktime with Story and hung out a bit. We stayed out too late once again, it was a fun evening!
Thursday, June 25:
We decided to stay at Ess-Kay another day so Wes could do some work in the engine room and I had work calls that would make it a challenge to do the 9 locks that we need to go through on the Oswego. I worked all day while Wes did his boat work. It was a rainy day, so even another reason to not travel. It was a quiet day for the most part. Wes fixed the transmission oil leak (replaced an O ring). We went up and had docktales inside their "garage" area, then a relaxing evening on the boat.
Friday, June 26:
We got up and got moving right away. We dropped our lines around 0645 and made our way to the first lock. We tied up to the wall and waited for them to open as we arrived early. They let us through at 0800 and on we went. We just missed a group for the first lock on the Oswego, so we tied up to the wall and waited. Once they turned the chamber around, we went in. Incommunicado, Blue Moon and End Game arrived as well. The four of us went through the next 8 locks together. It was a windy day which made it a bit chilly for me, but otherwise it was a good day. We arrived at Oswego around 1415 and got tied up to the dock. I jumped on a work call while Wes checked us in. Then he started putting the mast back up (and the antennas). Once that was done, we relaxed a little then went to Perogies & Pints with Gvit a Go. After dinner, we enjoyed a cocktail on our aft deck with Scott and Joan. Then we said our "goodbye for now" and went inside where we watched some TV before heading to bed.
Saturday, June 27:
We dropped our lines around 0800 and headed out on Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful, calm, sunny day out on the water! I setup my antigravity chair on the aft deck and enjoyed the beautiful weather while Wes drove us to Sodus Bay where we anchored out near Sodus Marina where Selah Way keeps there boat for the summer. We arrived around 1330 and dropped the hook. Wes did some things around the boat while I relaxed on the aft deck enjoying the sun. David and Amy were set to arrive around 1600. Another looper boat, Someday Came (Greg and Kara) were in the marina, so we dropped the dinghy and went over to visit with them a bit. Once David and Amy arrived, they also stopped by Someday Came and visited. It was an enjoyable afternoon! Then David, Amy and us went to grab dinner at The Bay Street Tavern. We enjoyed burgers and beverages. Then we walked down to where some live music was playing. We didn't want to pay the cover charge, so we continued on to another bar that had a dueling piano night and a bon fire. We sat by the bon fire and visited. The music stopped so we walked back to the car and then back to the marina where we called it a night. We got back in the dinghy and got back to the boat. We fired up the generator for an hour before heading to bed around 2400.
Sunday, June 28:
We were staying put for the day, so we both slept in some (me more so than Wes). Wes then got up and made us breakfast and we watched church. Then we took the dinghy to Selah Way and sat and visited with them. Then us ladies (Amy, Kara and I) went to a couple farmers stands. I got some local strawberries and peaches. Kara stocked up on several items. Amy also got some strawberries and cherries. We got back and visited with David and Amy more until we decided to walk up to Franklin House Tavern where the person that sang at their wedding was singing that evening. It was David and Amy's anniversary as well, so we enjoyed some live music, beverages and some food. I swear Amy knew every person there! The joys of growing up in a small town. We decided to leave around 1900 and headed to Selah Way. We both got in our dinghies and rode around a bit then tied up to a dock and walked up for some ice cream at Hots Point. After ice cream, we got in our dinghy and went back to Toscana. We ran the generator for a bit while watching some TV before heading to bend around 2200.
