Monday, June 1:
We got up and got the boat ready for travel. We dropped the lines around 0730 and started north towards our anchorage at Sassafras River near Betteron, MD. It was a little lumpy out there, but not too bad as we were taking them primarily on the nose. We got to our anchorage around 1330 and dropped the hook. I finished working and Wes did computer work. Then I called it a day and hung out on the aft deck while Wes was still busy on calls. I enjoyed a beverage and the beautiful weather and view. I made dinner but we ate inside as the winds picked up some and it was getting a little chilly. Then we relaxed watching some TV before heading to bed.
Tuesday, June 2:
We got up and Wes did his bible study, but I had a work call, so I listened to the recording later that day for mine. We pulled the anchor around 0900 to make the short run to Chesapeake City where we tied up to the city dock and paid the amount for power (it was worth it to not have to run the generator). We arrived around 1130, then Wes went and paid our $15 for power for the night and he also asked if we could stay 2 nights. They said it was fine, so we paid the $15 for power each night. Then we went up to the Tiki Bar at the Chesapeake Inn and had lunch. Then I went back to work. Once I was done with work, we took our scooters down and explored some. There were some shops and a museum, but we didn't go into any. We checked out a fish market and also picked up a loaf of bread. Then back to the boat. We had some ice cream, then went over to Castaway to sit on their fly bridge and listen to the live music. It was a nice evening visiting with Castaway, Thistle and Endless Somers. Then we went back to the boat to relax a bit before bed.
Wednesday, June 3:
We got up and both
started working. Wes made us breakfast sandwiches then he continued
trying to get caught up on computer work. It was a busy day for both of
us, but it was all on our computers, so nothing special to talk about.
We both needed a break from looking at our computers, so we took a
quick scooter ride over to the C&D Canal Museum. It was a neat
little place. It was the original lock house from when they had locks on the canal. It was free and a quick visit which was a good "lunch" break in our day. Then we went back to the boat and we both did more computer work. Then Anna and George from Gabanaa joined us on our aft deck for docktales. Then Colleen from The 'Nati Nomad joined us as well. It was a very nice evening of stories and beverages. Then we cooked burgers on the grill, went inside and watched some TV, then off to bed.
Thursday, June 4:
We got up and both started working. We had a short run, so we didn't leave Chesapeake City Dock until around noon, then made our way to Delaware City Marina. We arrived around 1430 as that was when slack tide was. We got in and secured without any issues. I went back to work, while Wes visited with several loopers that were already here and then checked us in. After I was done with work, we went up and listened to the weather briefing on crossing the Delaware Bay. We weren't leaving, but we wanted to get a feel for how it would work when we leave. Then we went upstairs to their boater's lounge and enjoyed docktales. There were a lot of us there, but it was a good time catching up. We ended up visiting with everyone until about 2030. We went back to the boat, warmed up some leftovers, watched a little TV, then went to bed.
We got up and both started working. It was a hot day, so I was thankful to be hooked up to power. Wayne and Karen from Our Journey stopped by late afternoon via car on their way back to Canada. We had a great visit on the aft deck. Foster had arraigned for all of us to have dinner at Kathy's that evening, so we all arrived. There were I believe 34 of us. The food was good and the company even better, but I will admit it was quite loud in the room though. Wayne and Karen left right after dinner as they wanted to get a couple hours drive in before they stopped for the night to make their final day driving back home shorter. After dinner, we all walked back and Chris and Kimber from Bahama Problem joined us on our aft deck for a nightcap. We once again got stuck on that fun wheel and went to bed way too late, but fun was had by all. Unfortunately, Kimber and I got eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Saturday, June 6:
We were both a little slow getting up the next morning but we got up and got the scooters down. Then we went to the farmer's market (it was quite small) and got a couple tomatoes and a cucumber. It was very hot and I was still tired, so we decided to go back to the boat. I relaxed most of the day, while Wes visited. Wes went up to the briefing, then I went up around 1700 with our dish to pass for the potluck and live music. There was a lot of food, and great jazz music to listen to as we all enjoyed the food, beverages, music and conversation. Around 1930 a storm was coming in, so everyone packed everything up. We took our stuff back to the boat, restocked our cooler, then went up to the boater's lounge. Foster joined us, them one other couple did as well, but they didn't stay too long. We visited with Foster for longer than anticipated, but we got back to the boat earlier than the night before! We got back, watched a little TV, then went to bed.
Sunday, June 7:
Wes got up and listed to Mick's presentation/stories on solo looping. When that was done, Foster, Mick, Wes and I all went to breakfast at Dee's. We went back to the boat where I then started getting my things together for my work trip. We both went up to the weather briefing at 1500 and visited with the other loopers there. Then we went back to the boat for a quiet night on the boat watching some TV, then going going to bed early.
