JG Marine Services: Seaz The Day: Mobile, AL - New Johnsonville, TN

6/11/24 - We got a later start this morning due to having to wait to fuel up and pump out before making the run up the TN-Tom Waterway. Not a lot new on the lower river, short of this somewhat floating cabin being swept away in the last flood. We made our 100 miles to the 78mm where we usually anchor on the trip up, only to find a dredge working right where we anchor... so we took off 5 miles further up river to another decent spot. It's just off the channel, and AIS broadcast is nice to have if you anchor here.

6/12/24 - Made it to Coffeyville Lock, the first of 13 for the trip, about 10am. Some friends from Midway asked for pictures of Bobby's Fish Camp as we passed by, and they are included here as well.

6/13/24 - Up with the sun again, and off for Demopolis, AL. This is always a short day, but by the time we fuel and resupply, it eats up the rest of the day. We had friends at Kingfisher, so it was dinner out at The Red Barn! Just before Kingfisher is Demopolis Lock. This lock was closed Jan 16 - May 17 for emergency repairs. You may also notice plenty of views of the spillway dam. It is by far the most scenic dam on the TN-Tom Waterway!

6/14/24 -  Early off for Columbus today... 120 miles and 3 locks. We had to run on plane for about an hour, but we got it done as we always do. Steve @ Columbus had went home so I didn't get to give him a hard time... My favorite past time when passing through.

6/15/24 - 4 locks on this stretch to Midway, make it potentially a long day. We finally spotted a gator swimming across in front of us... masking General P.I.T.A. very happy. Sure would have been nice if it was further south... this was too close to home for my comfort. I had my car waiting at Midway for us, so we got to take a drive to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Mi Toro's. The best part of the day was the bartender/server that we see and know regularly gave me the Spanish translation to "full of 'stuff'" in reference to the famous General P.I.T.A. it is 'lleno de mierda' for those wondering! 😅😂 The General was less than pleased at this betrayal of loyalty!!

6/16/24 - 3 more locks, and a stop over at Aqua Yacht on Lake Pickwick. Stopped and fueled, and got to visit with a couple that have a twin to my beloved Toscana. 2 more days to go!

6/17/24 - A quick trip back down 60 ft at Pickwick and we were off for Mermaid Marina. New owners were so appreciative of the repeat business they opened up the pizza oven on their day off for us. Great folks, and a great stop!

6/18/20 - Final day, a short 40 miles to New Johnsonville, TN. We got in, pumped out and topped off the fuel... and in the slip before noon. This was by design so we had time to get her washed, linens washed, and buttoned up. Owners are busy with other concerns and won't even see her until July sometime. 1400 Miles, 13 days, 13 locks, and a lot of laughs. Thanks General P.I.T.A. for excellent assistance on this move. It was the most fun you can have and be working at the same time!
