Monday, July 13:
We stayed at the marina as it's going to be hot the next couple days and locks 20 and 21 are still down, so there is nowhere to go. I worked all day. Wes took the scooter and rode to the lock to see how things were progressing. He and Tim got tired of waiting so they came back. Wes did some computer work as well. We had docktales on the patio by our boat then a bunch of us walked over to Riverside Grille inside the Holiday Inn for dinner. Then we walked back, and relaxed a bit before bed.
Tuesday, July 14:
Wes got up and did his bible study. I didn't sleep well so I missed my bible study. I did get up and work all day. Once I was done working, we went for a dinghy ride around the fountain to cool off. Then for fun, a bunch of us went through lock 20 and the lift lock 21. It was neat. We did another run past the fountain, then back to Toscana, where we changed, dropped the scooters and headed to Agave for dinner with a bunch of loopers. Then we scootered back to Toscana where Chris and Kimber from Bahama Problem joined us for a couple beverages on our aft deck until it got dark. We went in and relaxed a bit before heading to bed.
Wednesday, July 15:
We got up and got everything ready to travel. We dropped the lines around 0900. The sky had a haze from the wild fires. We had to hover for a bit then we tied up to the lock wall to wait our turn. We were the third group of boats to go through. We made it through locks 20 and 21, then we tied up by lock 22 for my work call. Then we finished the rest of the locks and headed into Lakefield Marina for the night. We arrived around 1630 and got secured. It was a tight fit with Sweet Pea on our port side. There were no open power pedestals near us. There was one 30 amp a couple slips down to the left and another a couple slips down to the right. Sweet Pea lent us 2 power cords and we had one as well, so we ran the cords from the two separate 30 amp plugs to our boat, where we connected to our splitter and then to our boat cord. We were able to rig it so we had two 30 amp legs. We then walked with Eric and Debbie on Sweet Pea to Canoe and Paddle where there were 20 of us there for dinner. It was good to relax and unwind with our fellow loopers. Then we walked back to the marina with Eric, Debbie, Tim and Sarah (Black Diamond). We enjoyed a couple beverages on our aft deck. I went to bed, but Wes stayed up and visited a bit before heading to bed.
Thursday, July 16:
I had a call from 10:30 to noon, so we waited until about 1130 and Wes dropped the lines and started heading down the Trent. I got done with my call with time to spare. We locked through 27 with Black Diamond. The wind picked up but wasn't too bad. It actually felt nice. As we were waiting to get into lock 28, Luis called and said there wasn't any room at lock 30, so once we got out of lock 28, we tied up there with Honey Badger, Gabanna, Sweet Pea and Black Diamond. We arrived around 1430. Wes hung out with everyone while I finished work. We all had dinner on our boats, then we gathered for a bon fire. It was a beautiful evening! As usual, Wes and I were the last to head in and once again we didn't go to bed until after real midnight.
Friday, July 17:
We decided to stay where we were on lock 28 so Cheryl Ann and Bliss could join us here. I worked all day and the others arrived by noon. Once I was done with work, we walked over to Burleigh Falls Inn for happy hour and dinner. Rand on Cheryl Ann wasn't feeling well, so it was Luis, Kim, Cheryl, Sarah, Tim and us all for dinner. It was a good time. Then we walked back and enjoyed a bonfire. We didn't stay out as late though and called it an evening around 2130.
Saturday, July 18:
When we woke up it was raining, so we didn't leave first thing. We weren't going too far as there wasn't room on the lock walls ahead of us. We shoved off the wall around 1000 with Black Diamond. We went through two locks and then tied up at Bobcaygeon while it was raining. We all showered and by that time, the rain had stopped, so we walked around town and explored. We ended up at a sports bar with Tim and Sarah where we enjoyed some beverages and food. Then we went back to the boat and hung our with Tisn't for a bit then we went inside and relaxed a bit before bed.
Sunday, July 19:
Wes woke up around 0400 and he fired up the generator as he received a low battery notification. The generator ran for about 45 minutes and then it shut down. Wes got up to investigate. The engine room was full of smoke, so he put on the blower and started the port engine to charge the batteries and to clear out the smoke in the engine room. Since our generator was down, we needed to get to a marina that evening, so he reached out to Tim on Black Diamond and let him know that we would be leaving earlier than anticipated. They were on board as well, so we both dropped our lines around 0730 and started our way to lock 32. We arrived at the lock just before 0900. We tied up on the blue line and waited for them to open. We got through the lock and continued on through the multiple locks including the second lift lock. It was a beautiful day but a long day. We made it all the way to Port of Orillia Marina around 1745 and got secured. We then enjoyed dinner and beverage with Scott and Joan on Gvit a Go. It was so thoughtful of them to have us for dinner after a very long travel day. We had a nice visit, then called it a night around 2200.
