When the Gales of September....

 Monday, Sept 1:

We got up and untied our lines and headed toward Boyne City about 0730.  The lake was calm and it was an enjoyable ride.  I hung out on the aft deck in my anti gravity chair.  It was a very cool morning so I had on my heavy sweatshirt, but the sun was out and it ended up being a beautiful day.  We went through the Charlevoix channel and had to wait about 15 minutes or so for the bridge to lift for us.  Lake Charlevoix was beautiful and calm as well.  We arrived at Boyne City around 1230 where Lori from Pickett's Pub was waiting for us on the dock to help us get tied up.  We got settled, then walked around town a bit.  Then we went back to the boat and had a few drinks with Lori.  We went out for dinner, then back to the boat (and more drinks).  It was a very enjoyable day.

Tuesday, Sept 2:

We both got up and did our respective bible study groups (though we both were moving a little slow).  I worked all day and Wes did some boat projects and made more sweet tea.  Another looper boat, Lemonade (Scott and Narissa) came into the slip next to us.  Laurie and Mike know them and we all visited for a little bit.  Then Lori and Mike came back early evening and took all of us to Boyne Mountain where we road the chair lift up to Skybridge, the largest suspended bridge.  Lori is not a fan of heights, but she was a trooper and she even looked down through the glass section in the middle of the bridge.  The views were spectacular!  We all went back to Mike and Lori's and enjoyed some pizza, drinks and played some cards. Fun was had by all!!

 Wednesday, Sept 3:

We got up and visited the farmer's market that was right across the street.  We got some fresh veggies and peaches.  Then the weather we were expecting came full force!  It started out with just rain, but then the wind came.   I worked all day.  Wes ran to the store with Lori.  When he got back and loaded everything on the boat, he was soaked through.  He hung his shirt in a salon so it could dry out! Wes did some adjusting to our lines as we were getting blown around.  All was good.

 Thursday, Sept 4:

It was still windy and cold, but the rain took a little break.  Scott on Lemonade was out putting zip ties on his chain for measurements (Wes and I were talking about repainting our chain).  This gave Wes the idea to do the same.  Scott was kind enough to give us some colored zip ties, so Wes remarked our chain as well so we are all set!!  Mike came and picked the four of us up and we went to the Pickette's for BBQ ribs that Mike smoked and to play some more games.  Dinner was delicious and we all had a great time!

Friday, Sept 5:

It was still a windy, cold, rainy day, so we stayed put again.  I of course worked all day and Wes did a few projects around the boat.  We had a quiet night in and enjoyed BLT's and my dad's tomato soup for dinner.

Saturday, Sept 6:

Wes, Scott and Mike made a run to Petosky for some lunch and shopping.  Wes got us some groceries and some new lines from West Marine.  They enjoyed Chili at Mitchell Street Pub (and a couple drinks) then stopped at Walloon Lake for another beer, then finally at Muskrat Distillery for one last drink.  Wes then came back to the boat, I put the groceries away, then Rod an Sue (that we met up with in Duncan Bay in Cheboygan) came to visit us.  The boat across from us didn't look to be doing so well, so Wes took a picture so the harbormaster was aware.  We enjoyed a couple drinks on the boat then went to Lake Street Pub for dinner.  As we were saying or goodbyes, we noticed the moon.  It looked cool with the clouds.  It was a very nice visit.

 Sunday, Sept 7:

We watched church, then around 1400, Lori came to pick the four of us up and we went to the Pickette's for another afternoon/evening of food and fun.  Mike smoked a brisket for us.  Everything was delicious and we enjoyed playing games with Mike, Lori, Scott and Narissa.  As we were getting back to the marina, we caught a beautiful sunset!  We then relaxed a bit then off to bed!
