Monday, Oct 20:
We got up a little slower than usual, as Wes wanted to get some spare zincs for the shaft at the ship's store and it didn't open until 0800. We shoved off around 0830 and started heading to Paris Landing. It was windy and a little lumpy, but it was still beautiful! We arrived at around 1400. We got secured and then assisted other loopers that were coming in behind us. Our friend Glen stopped by for a nice visit, then we went up near the marina office for docktales. We enjoyed a nice visit with our fellow loopers until dark, then back to the boat for dinner. We relaxed a bit then off to bed early as we were both tired!
Tuesday, Oct 21:
We both got up and participated in our respective bible studies. I worked all day while Wes did some video work and some boat projects. It was a pretty quiet day. We went up for docktales around 1700 and visited with most of the loopers that were at Paris Landing. Then back to the boat for dinner, relaxing, then bed.
Wednesday, Oct 22:
It was a cold mid-40's when we got up. Wes turned the heat on to get the chill out of the air. Then got things ready to take off. We shoved off around 0645. It was sunny but windy all day, but not a bad travel day. We passed several tows, and saw other looper boats, but otherwise the river was quiet. We "floated" past home (you can't see it from the river, but we know it's there). Our neighbors walked down to the river with their chairs and waved at us as we passed (picture below). We got to Mermaid Marina around 1600, and went in and out a few times to "dredge" it out as we will be fueling up while were are there and will be sitting lower on our way out than what we were on our way in. We got secured then went into the office to catch up with the owners. Then we went up to the restaurant and ordered a couple of pizzas for dinner. Inspiration arrived around 1730. We got them settled in then we had Ron and Linda from Inspiration over on our aft deck for pizza and beverages. It was a very enjoyable evening!! They told us about their stay at Birdsong. They had a great time there visiting the Freshwater Pearl Museum and said the staff was very friendly and helpful. They even took their picture and gave them an 8x10 printout of them and their boat there. After dinner we went inside and relaxed a bit before bed. The next several days will not have much as we will be staying there for a week to get some things done at home and do some provisioning.

Thursday, Oct 23:
We got up and I started working. Wes took a walk with Ron and Linda to explore and see the showers and laundry. It was another cool morning, so Inspiration wasn't in a hurry to get going. Wes visited with them some while I worked. Around noon they shoved off to head to and anchorage. One of the workers stopped by around 1600 and offered to take Wes to our property so he could get his car. I made dinner while he was gone, so when he returned, we ate, relaxed a bit then off to bed.
Friday, Oct 24:
Another brisk morning, but still beautiful with the wisps of fog coming off the water. I worked from the boat while Wes drove to the property to get some things taken care of there. Another looper boat came in. We went to the restaurant for dinner. They were already up there, so we joined them and had a very nice fish dinner, some beverages and good conversation. We went back to the boat and relaxed a bit before bed.
Saturday, Oct 25:
A very rare thing happened this morning. Wes was awake before me (not unusual) but I got out of bed and moving before he did. 😂 We got things together and we both headed to the property. I helped get the spare props down to bring to the boat. He also had a bracket from the dinghy seat to weld. He did other items around the property (put in new gate codes, some other computer work, etc.). I went to the RV and read. Once he was done, he came to the RV, showered and we headed back to the boat. We sat on the aft deck for a quick minute, then walked up to their outdoor bar where Luke, the owner of Mermaid was at. We sat outside and had a few beverages and visited with Luke and some locals. A couple came up and he looked at us and thought we looked familiar but couldn't place us. As we continued our conversation, we realized how small the world is again! Come to find out, it was David and Sindy Garlisch! David is the cousin of my ex-husband Kip. They didn't know us well as they lived in Texas, but they moved to TN when they retired and they visit the marina sometimes on the weekends. We all moved inside to a table and had dinner. They were doing Singo (Bingo but with songs). We had a blast! We even won some! It was a great night hanging out with David and Sindy. They went home and Wes and I stayed and visited with Luke and several other workers. Next thing we knew it was about 0300. We walked back to the boat, relaxed a bit then off to bed!
Sunday, Oct 26:
We were both moving slow the next morning! We got moving. Wes disconnected all the batteries and we hauled them to the car 4 at a time. It was raining and the docks were wet, so it was a little tricky given the docks leaned a bit in one section. We took 4 to the car, then stopped in the restaurant for a little food, then we got the other 4 loaded. Then we drove to Sam's Club in Jackson. We dealt with the batteries first. We did the battery swap and got the new batteries loaded. They we did our "other" shopping. We got that all loaded up and back to the boat. We took the batteries back 2 at a time this time. It was easier that way even though it was more trips. On the last trip we stopped at the bar for a quick drink before they closed for the day. Then we finished getting the batteries on the boat. I worked on vacuum sealing the food we got into individual packages while Wes installed the new batteries. We were both beat by the time we were done. We relaxed a bit and went to bed early!
